Book group meet on the 1st Tuesday of every month at 8 pm in Chilwell Memorial Hall.

We are a relaxed and informal group and try to read a varied mix of books; all suggested by members. We don’t have a structured format to meetings but do enjoy lively and fun debates over what we have or have not liked!

 

So far, we’ve read titles ranging from classics such as 1984 by George Orwell to more modern choices like The Power by Naomi Alderman.

Recent books have been Transcription by Kate Atkinson, Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng, The Shipping News by Annie Proulx, Educated by Tara Westover, Queenie by Candice Carty Williams, and Girl, Woman, Other by Bernadine Evaristo. 

 

In October our book is Love and Other Thought Experiments by Sophie Ward which was Longlisted for the Booker Prize 2020.
